The Bodhran Band was founded in the year 2000 in Israel. One of its aims was to examine the possibility o combining traditional Irish music with other musical styles like jazz, classical, and Mediterranean music. These combinations, together with the energetic playing of the musicians, produce very interesting and lively arrangements. Today, the Bodhran band is considered the most innovative Israeli band playing Irish music.
The "Bodhran" drum is the leading percussion instrument in Irish music (besides the "Bones"). It is the principal rhythm component in traditional Irish music. When the band was founded, this drum was then unknown in Israel, and with the excitement of its acquisition, it became the name of the band.
Besides the Bodhran drum, the other instruments in the band are: Great Highland bagpipes, Scottish smallpipes, (Irish) large and small Uilleann pipes, Penny whistle, Low whistle, fiddle, drums, various percussion instruments, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, and of course that additional percussion instrument: Irish tap shoes!

The band was founded by the Korenberg family: Tal (irish whistles and bagpipes), Asaf (drums), and their father Israel (percussion). They were joined by Alex Reznikowitz (guitars), and Dato Shalom (bass guitar). Later additions were Maayan Carmeli (fiddle), Jacob hoter (guitar), and Yair Verdiger (Irish dance). All of these musicians bring their individual talent and experience to the band, but the music produced by the Bodhran band is the result of the close personal relations between its members, which enhances their musical expression and performance.
Since its establishment, the Bodhran band has performed in a great variety of musical events and festivals in Israel, including: the Goldstar Beer Festival, "Four Days in Ireland", Jacob’s Lader, Murphy's beer campaign, and others. They have also appeared on Israeli television, and have been broadcast on the radio.
